New Mags, New Colors...

Hello there my fellow yarn junkies!! It’s another beautiful day here in our quiet little town, Pacific Grove. Not a cloud in the sky! Us locals are very grateful for that! Today would be a great day town walk on down to the beach, enjoy the view....and knit! That sounds like a great day to me :)

This week I have a just a few little things to show ya! We got in a little shipment from Brown Sheep, who we get all of our wonderful Lamb’s Pride, Nature Spun, and Lamb’s Pride Superwash Sport. There area couple of new colors of Nature Spun I wanted to share. Here we have True Blue Navy, Goldenrod, and Chocolate Kisses (mmm sounds good!)

nice new colors to add to our collection. Did you know that we have over 70 colors of Nature Spun!! It’s true! I counted them today! Check it out...

We have carried this wonderful worsted weight wool (say that 5 times fast! haha) for years and it continues to be one of our best wools in our shop! Nature Spun can be used for just about anything your little heart desires to knit or crochet! Sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves, you name it! Remember last month I shared that gorgeous afghan that our knitting pal Pamela made?

That was Nature Spun! This yarn works great for felting projects too! Remember my little felted slippers.....

that’s right, Nature Spun! Can’t go wrong here! If you need worsted weight wool but need it machine washible, don’t forget about Cascade 220 Superwash!

I can't even fit all the colors in one pic!
Now over 30 colors to choose from!

If you need some colorful, spakely, goodness in your life, how bout some new colors of Blue Heron Rayon Metallic!!

This beauty is made from a soft, drapey, rayon with metallic sparkels. The skeins are quite large too with a yardage of 550! I’ve seen it knit in shawls, and little evening tops, sooo pretty! Joan knit a scarf out of one skien in a lacey, chevron stitch that’s very simple...

pattern available free with purchase. There was quite a bit leftover too, so Joan made these pretty little wristlets.....

this pattern is a free download on Ravelry called “Madrid Wristlets”. There are tiny little beads knit into these too if you look closeley here...

These only take a bit of fine weight yarn to make, great for leftovers as you can tell!

This week is a magazine week as well! 3 new mags this time! For our spinners, we have a brand new issue of Spin Off...

and for our Crocheters, a new Interweave Crochet....

and here is my fav mag of the week, a special issue of Knitscene all about accessories

this issue is FULL of patterns for hats, mitts, shawls, cowls (yaay), and socks! Also in this issue there are tutorials on Entrelac, Fair Isle, Intarsia, and more! Wow! This issue has just about everything doesn’t it? This one I highly reccommend!

That’s about all the sharing I have for you this week. Before I leave you, I’d like to remind you about World Wide Knit in Public Day, which is this Saturday (9th). This day is all about, yup you guessed it, knitting and doing so in public! Try to get as many knitting pals as you can together, go somewhere fun and show the world how amazing it is to knit!! If you are local there will be a group meeting to celebrate this day at Del Monte Shopping Center. Knitter’s will be meeting from 10:00am to 4:00pm near the big fountain (kind of near See’s Candies oooh boy!!). Chairs will be provided. It is reccomended that you bring a hat or wear sunblock (no shade in that area), and wear layers (of your knitting hehe). My wonderful co-worker and pal, Diane, will be there to represent us Monarch’s! I wish I could be there, but I will be, as always, at the shop :) For me and my co-worker’s, every day is knit in public day!!
